Tankoa Yachts, an Italian “boutique shipyard” founded in Genoa in 2007 by former Baglietto executives led by Guido Orsi, specializes in custom steel and aluminium superyachts and megayachts measuring 45–80 metres. Its first breakthrough project was the 69-metre M/Y Suerte (2015), presented at the Monaco Yacht Show. The brand’s hallmark is extensive customization of layouts and interiors on proven production platforms.
Notable projects
International recognition came through the 72-metre flagship M/Y Solo, winner of a Game Changer Award, and the popular 50-metre S501 series, including Vertige and Kinda. The yard takes pride in highly efficient hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, notably recognized aboard M/Y Bintador. Tankoa has established close relationships with Francesco Paszkowski, Luca Dini and Alberto Mancini. Recent highlights include the futuristic Sportiva range (T45 and T55) and the 68-metre T680 Fenice concept.Major expansion of production capacity
Industry veteran Vincenzo Poerio, who previously led Benetti for 25 years, was appointed Tankoa Yachts CEO in February 2020. He guided Tankoa from a local boutique builder into a phase of industrial expansion. Under his leadership, the company acquired OTAM production facilities in Genoa and opened a specialized metalworking site in Civitavecchia, enabling up to ten hulls to be started and six yachts assembled simultaneously.Another major step under Poerio was the acquisition of the historic Italian yard Cantieri di Pisa, expanding Tankoa’s portfolio into more compact composite explorer and high-performance vessels. The brand’s infrastructure now combines its historic 28,000 m² Genoa site with a 4,000-tonne dry dock, a 34,000 m² hull-welding facility in Civitavecchia and the recently acquired OTAM area.
