History and Brand Philosophy
Sanlorenzo was founded in 1958 in Limite sull’Arno, Italy, by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia as a small shipyard building wooden motor yachts. In 1985, the company introduced the SL57, its first fiberglass model. Today, Sanlorenzo builds motor yachts and superyachts up to 74 metres, maintaining its philosophy of individually crafting every vessel.Design and Model Range
Sanlorenzo’s contemporary portfolio includes the planing SL series, semi-displacement SD yachts, innovative SX crossover models and sporty SP range. The asymmetric SL96A and SL120A, alongside the popular SX88 and SX100 with their expansive aft areas, hold a special place in the collection. The superyacht division offers the Alloy, Steel and X-Space series. Renowned designers including Piero Lissoni, Zuccon International Project and Bernardo Zuccon have contributed to the brand’s distinctive identity. In 2022, the Sanlorenzo Alloy received a prestigious World Superyacht Award. The shipyard’s defining strength lies in extensive customisation, ensuring that virtually no two Sanlorenzo yachts are alike.Production and Technology
Sanlorenzo operates production facilities in Ameglia, Viareggio, Massa and La Spezia. The shipyard deliberately limits production volumes to prioritise quality and personalisation. Its proprietary innovations include the patented asymmetric layout of the SL series, which maximises usable interior space. In 2024, Sanlorenzo launched the 50Steel Almax, equipped with a fuel-cell system generating electricity from hydrogen derived from green methanol. Future development focuses on hybrid propulsion, emissions reduction and expanding the superyacht portfolio.
