Dutch Engineering Excellence
Heesen Yachts was founded in 1978 when entrepreneur Frans Heesen acquired a shipbuilding facility in Oss, the Netherlands. Its first motor yacht, the 20-metre Amigo, was launched in 1979. In 1988, the 38-metre Octopussy achieved a speed exceeding 50 knots, setting a world record. Today, Heesen specialises in aluminium and steel superyachts up to 80 metres, combining exceptional performance with transoceanic cruising capabilities.Speed and Efficiency Without Compromise
Heesen’s contemporary portfolio includes 50-metre aluminium semi-displacement yachts, 55-metre steel long-range models and high-performance aluminium superyachts up to 57 metres. Beyond its established platforms, the shipyard offers Smart Custom and Full Custom construction programmes. Leading design partners include Omega Architects, Harrison Eidsgaard, Cristiano Gatto and Luca Dini. Landmark achievements include the 80-metre Galactica, capable of reaching 30 knots, and the 57-metre Santosha, recognised with two major awards in 2025. In 2026, the 50-metre Orion received a World Superyacht Award. Heesen’s principal strength is its ability to combine speed, advanced hull efficiency and extensive customisation.Production and Innovation
Heesen’s production complex in Oss provides approximately 22,000 square metres of covered facilities, with nine construction halls and five dry docks, including an 85-metre dock for larger superyachts. The shipyard has the capacity to deliver up to eight yachts annually, while bespoke interiors are produced at its dedicated facility in Winterswijk. A major engineering achievement is the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), developed with Van Oossanen Naval Architects to significantly improve fuel efficiency. Future priorities include hybrid propulsion, the BlueNautech environmental innovation programme and new superyacht projects between 50 and 70 metres.
