Not all shipyards are ready to share the details of the technical process of building a superyacht, preferring to show the finished "product" with shining boards and perfect interior. But the Italian Benetti shipyard openly demonstrates the backstage side of the work.

Around 30 technicians, crane operators and engineers were involved in the process of combining the hull and superstructure of the Benetti 65m custom yacht (hull FB274). To make this possible, the Benetti team had to provide a welded bimetallic structure at the junction point from the very beginning of construction.

The first part of the complex operation was carried out in perfect cooperation with the Lusben team, a division of the Azimut/Benetti Group responsible for refitting superyachts in Viareggio. First, the hull was moved from the hangar to the outdoor area with the help of special trolleys, where in an atmosphere of absolute concentration the superstructure weighing about 55 tonnes was placed exactly above the hull with the help of a 500 tonne crane.

After the master connection, the yacht was returned to the hangar for completion. The hull and superstructure will be welded together in the coming weeks. The launch and transfer to the customer is scheduled for the summer of 2021, when the name of the new Benetti FB 274 will also be known.
