Italian shipyard Pirelli Speedboats (manufactured by Sacs Tecnorib S.p.A. in Lombardy) specializes in premium rigid inflatable boats, known as Maxi-RIBs. Their distinctive feature is the recognizable P ZERO tire tread pattern on the tubes. The brand’s history began in 2005, with the Pirelli P ZERO 770 making its debut in 2006.
A Contemporary Perspective
The current range is divided into two families: high-speed walkaround boats (from the Pirelli 30 and bestselling Pirelli 35 to the flagship Pirelli 47 and Pirelli 50) and J-Line jet tenders. The shipyard’s principal design partner is Sweden’s Mannerfelt Design Team, led by Ted Mannerfelt. His automotive background helped introduce distinctive roof aerodynamics and sporty lines. The shipyard’s highlights include the Pirelli 35, winner of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, and the impressive flagship Pirelli 50. The latest limited editions have also enjoyed major commercial success: the Mansory Special Edition (based on the Pirelli 42 with carbon-fiber upgrades) and the motorcycle-inspired Ducati Edition.Production Capabilities and Development
Sacs Tecnorib produces approximately 140–150 premium vessels annually (excluding its smaller tender range), and has delivered more than 1,000 vessels over 20 years. Its facilities comprise three modern sites in Lombardy with around 20,000 sq m of covered space, including a new dedicated complex in Roncello for boats over 45 feet. Pirelli engineers focus on ESG sustainability principles and environmentally friendly materials. The yard’s signature technologies include hydrodynamic deep-V double-stepped hulls (double redan), vacuum-infused composites, and exclusive patented rights to incorporate authentic P ZERO tire-tread patterns into the inflatable tubes.
