Shipyard Oceanco

Dutch Expertise in Megayacht Construction

Oceanco was established in 1987 as an international shipbuilding company, initially constructing hulls in South Africa before completing the yachts in the Netherlands. Its early landmark projects included the 95-metre Indian Empress, alongside Constellation and Stargate. Today, Oceanco specialises in fully custom motor and sailing superyachts up to 160 metres, delivering some of the most technically ambitious projects in the global yachting industry.

The Art of Bespoke Yacht Building

Unlike production shipyards, Oceanco has no conventional model range: every yacht is individually designed around its owner’s vision. International recognition came through the 106-metre sailing yacht Black Pearl, equipped with the innovative DynaRig system; the 109-metre Bravo Eugenia, named Yacht of the Year in 2019; and the 127-metre Koru, one of the world’s largest sailing yachts. Recent projects include the 111-metre Leviathan, featuring diesel-electric propulsion. Oceanco has collaborated with leading designers including Nuvolari Lenard, Espen Øino, Lobanov Design, Winch Design and Reymond Langton. The shipyard’s defining advantage is its exceptional design freedom, enabling truly unique architectural and engineering solutions.

Production and Future Technologies

Oceanco operates facilities in Alblasserdam and Zwijndrecht, where superyachts up to 160 metres are constructed, outfitted and refitted. In 2025, the company expanded its Zwijndrecht facilities by 13,400 square metres. Production focuses on a limited number of exceptionally complex projects, with deliveries typically measured in just a few yachts annually. Future development priorities include diesel-electric propulsion, alternative energy sources and the Simply Custom programme, which reduces construction times through proven technical platforms. Its first project is the 80-metre Y729.
