Shipyard CRN

The Italian Tradition of Custom Superyachts

CRN, originally Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali, was founded in 1963 in Ancona, Italy, by Sanzio Nicolini. The shipyard established its reputation through the 23-metre Super Conero series and later collaborations with legendary yacht builder Carlo Riva. Today, CRN is part of Ferretti Group and specialises in fully custom steel and aluminium superyachts up to 95 metres.

The Art of Bespoke Yacht Design

Unlike conventional production shipyards, CRN does not offer a standard model range: every superyacht is individually designed and engineered. Notable recent projects include the 72-metre CRN 139, the 67-metre Amor à Vida, recognised by Robb Report’s Best of the Best awards in 2026, and the 70-metre Cerulean, delivered in September 2026. The shipyard has collaborated with renowned studios including Nuvolari Lenard, Vripack, Nauta Design and Vallicelli Design. A particularly significant project is the 85.8-metre CRN 144, set to become the shipyard’s flagship. CRN’s defining advantage is its exceptional degree of customisation, combining complex naval architecture, advanced engineering and the finest traditions of Italian craftsmanship.

Production and Technology

CRN’s production facilities are located at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, covering 76,945 square metres, including 32,704 square metres of covered space. The complex comprises nine construction halls, a private marina and infrastructure capable of accommodating several large superyachts simultaneously. Advanced technologies include energy storage systems designed to reduce fuel consumption and enable silent operation at anchor, as implemented aboard Cerulean. In October 2026, Ferretti Group received approval to expand its Ancona production facilities, enabling the construction of yachts up to 100 metres.
