Columbus Yachts

Upon acquiring over 50 years of experience in the merchant ship industry, in 2008 the Palumbo family decided to invest in the 'leisure' yacht market by first creating the Columbus brand and then the Palumbo Superyachts division. Since then, the Columbus Yachts brand - that gained global identity with the 2011 launch of its first 54 metre superyacht emblematically christened “Prima” has steadily strengthened and increased customer confidence.

Today the brand boasts collaborations with internationally renowned designers and offers four lines (Atlantique, Crossover, Sport and Classic) in addition to the opportunity of building fully custom vessels. Being part of Palumbo Superyachts, Columbus can guarantee customer services and facilities throughout the Mediterranean (Ancona, Malta, Marseille, Naples and Savona) as well as a service point in Central America and the Caribbean.

"Though we’re already financing the construction of an 80 metre ISA at our headquarters in Naples, we can also support the production of a new 40 metre Columbus Crossover to be delivered in spring 2024. Savona is the ideal place as it provides skilled workers to join a new managerial team dedicated to the construction of new builds. The current market trend and our order book guarantee us stability and solidity". — Giuseppe Palumbo, director of Palumbo Superyachts and Palumbo SY Refit

As in the past, top quality materials, know-how and exceptional craftsmanship bear witness to the brand’s principles "A yacht should represent a combination of harmony, elegance and distinctive features. However, first-quality materials, sophisticated craftsmanship, considerable technical knowledge and care for the environment are not enough. They must blend with the customer involvement through his hyper-personalization and consistent engagement across the entire construction process ... this is our true strength, this is Columbus's finest asset!

At a time when societal attitudes toward sustainability are evolving rapidly, environmental regulations are increasing and port requirements for limited emissions are becoming more stringent, Columbus strives to provide its greeners with the best of both worlds: luxury, comfort and green credentials.

Columbus is well aware that yacht owners are increasingly looking into both alternative propulsion and green construction solutions in order to get the multiple advantages of limiting their yacht carbon footprint and minimizing emissions, while improving the onboard experience.

In 2013, with the 40M Sport Hybrid model, Columbus Yachts was the first shipyard to receive RINA’s "Hybrid Propulsion Y" along with "Green Star Plus Platinum" notation, based on a performance index that covers all aspects of this model’s impact on the environment.

Currently under production, the new Columbus "Lady" project - an innovative, dynamic, avant-garde 50-metre - fully reflects the core values of the Columbus brand. A path that is being developed together with a greener devoted to ecology and elegance and that will turn the project into a new beacon for the market.
