Benetti Yachts

Founded in 1873 by Lorenzo Benetti, this Italian shipyard, which still bears the name of its founder, began, like most of the old titled shipbuilders, not with the creation of yachts: Benetti built in Viareggio, on the Tuscan coast of Italy, wooden merchant ships. Inherited the family business sons Lorenzo-Gino and Emilio-renamed the shipyard in Fratelli Benetti and further expanded the business, making the name Benetti known even outside the Mediterranean. The Benetti brothers were still built of wood, but their ships were already crossing the oceans, and there were even yachts among them.

During the Second World war, Benetti produced small military vessels made of steel, and with the end of the war, when wood, as a material for the construction of commercial ships, almost out of use, the shipyard completely switched to steel hull. Taking into account that restrictions on the production of military vessels were imposed on Italy, Benetti's products naturally returned to a peaceful course. By the early 60s, the shipyard had developed Tirreno, Delfino and Mediterraneo models ranging in length from 18 to 33 m, which were so popular that the demand began to exceed the capabilities of the shipyard. At the same time, Benetti yachts began to grow rapidly in size, and in 1980 one of the largest yachts of its time-the 86 — meter Nabila-was launched. This legendary vessel, built for the extravagant Saudi businessman Adnan Kashoggi, can be seen in one of the Bond series " Never say never»; then the yacht passed to the Sultan of Brunei, and later it was owned by the current President of the United States Donald trump, renaming the Trump Princess.

In 1985, Fratelli Benetti was bought by Paolo Vittelli, founder and owner of Azimut Yachts, which led to the creation of one of the largest shipbuilding conglomerates in Italy — Azimut-Benetti Group. The new management approach has transformed Benetti into a state-of-the-art, technically advanced shipyard as we know it today, with huge production facilities in Viareggio and Livorno. In Livorno, up to 12 completely individual megayachts of steel or aluminum can be built at the same time, and in the shipyard in Viareggio produces yachts from 95 to 145 feet in length, which are produced on the basis of pre-designed "platforms". Classic line, in accordance with the name — classic design yachts with fiberglass hull and a large power reserve in displacement mode. The Fast series features a more sporty appearance and high speeds, while the transitional type of housing provide comfort on the move in both planing and displacement mode. Class Oasis, created in cooperation with the British design Bureau Redman Whitely Dixon, offers a completely new concept of interior space, and unfolding in the aft of the Board create a huge beach club, which has no analogues on yachts of its class and size.

Finally, a series of BNow — a new family, also developed in collaboration with RWD is a yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure in the size range from 50 to 68 m. Their peculiarity lies in the fact that with advanced customization options to build in a fairly short period of time.

The large-scale production capacity of Benetti allows to build up to 35 yachts at the same time, including 3 megayachts with a length of more than 100 m.at the same time, one of the basic principles of Benetti's philosophy is never to say the word "no"to customers. The shipyard undertakes the implementation of the most complex technical solutions, while at the request of the customer changes in the project can be made already in the construction process.
